Starting this Thursday and running every other week, Spoon in East Liberty will host "Three Blind Wines" at the bar and in the newly updated lounge area from 5 to 7 p.m.

Sommelier John Wabeck will coach a bit through the blind wine tasting, which will kick off with a trio of whites this week and a flight of reds on Aug. 15. Mr. Wabeck will provide guests with a score sheet that will list several varietials, three of which are those poured. Varietals and vintners are revealed at the end of the session.

How formal is it? The cost of the event is $25, which includes "whatever level of conversation you want," he said.  "It'll be fun."
