Drink and dance with the dead

day of the dead
Halloween's over, but you can still have a wickedly good time at two Dia de los Muertos celebrations.

Tonight and tomorrow at Mad Mex, there'll be $7 Big Bone margaritas, half off Boney Wings and $6 drafts of Rogue Dead Guy ale, created in the early 1990s to mark the Mayan Day of the Dead. Celebrated for hundreds of years throughout Mexico and other cultures, the annual event  -- a national holiday in Mexico -- is a day to honor and pray for the dead.

' fiesta, which includes an art show by more than a dozen local artists, is on Friday. Guaracha Latin Dance Band gets things started at 9 p.m., followed by DJ Vex at 11p.m. (and spinning until 2 a.m.) There will be Mexican street food, too, from Chef Rick Deshantz: street corn, nachos, smoked brisket and chipotle BBQ pork shoulder tacos, flan, churros and more. There's no cover, but costumes -- and dancing shoes -- are strongly encouraged. Salud!
